Textile Design in Scandinavia
Summer 2010
- Popular majors: Fashion Design – Interior Design – Studio Art – Industrial Design
Every culture in the world throughout history has made decorated objects, often in the form of repeated patterns applied to facades, floors, clothing, and other surfaces. The design of repeat patterns is an interdisciplinary art where the artistic senses of distance, movement, color and line interact with a basic knowledge of visual perception and geometric limitations and constructions in order to create a seamless, continuous pattern.
Textile Design in Scandinavia, developed in cooperation with Denmark’s Design School, trains you in the design process under Danish conditions, and allows you to obtain design solutions based on knowledge of Danish and Scandinavian methods of textile design and printing. You will produce work for a portfolio including samples of different print techniques, repeat patterns, sketches, and examples of the use of textiles in connection with architecture. Join us for this 7-week, 9-credit program this July & August!
