Summer 2009 International Educators Conference (IEC) – June 22-26
Study Abroad during and after the recession: Sustainable experiential learning
The DIS 50th Anniversary IEC celebrates half a century of quality and innovation in international education.
In addition to the classes, sessions, program introductions, field visits and other events offered each semester at DIS workshops, the 2009 conference is a special celebration of our 50 years. We welcome new and long-time colleagues in international education, faculty, academic advisors, and senior administrators.
IEC will provide participants, as well as DIS faculty and staff, with valuable professional development opportunities. Sessions will be interactive, hands-on and dialog-based, sampling the student experience. Be prepared to conduct an interview, keep a sketchbook or journal, or submit photos to a photo contest. Participants will have a “Danish buddy” from the DIS staff or faculty for exchange of ideas and more in-depth discussion during the week.
Many sessions will address the "burning issues of our time" and how study abroad informs future leaders on these issues, i.e. sustainability, immigration, world economic crisis, and urban issues of livability and city planning.
Conference sessions & events include:
