Program Study Tours
Each DIS program is defined by a core course and two course-integrated study tours: a short tour in Denmark and a longer tour to a European destination relevant to the core course content. Participation in these tours is required.
In this way, we invite you to enhance your studies by adding a strong European hands-on dimension, and to upgrade your travels in Europe by going prepared and visiting people and places you would never otherwise have access to.
The program study tours form an intense combination of academic and cultural exploration and experiences, socializing, and fun. You will visit course-relevant sites such as (depending on the program of your choice) famous art collections, European Union institutions, multinational companies, schools and kindergartens, architecture and design projects, university hospitals, media headquarters, NGO’s, minority groups, and many more. Plus you will meet important actors in your field of study. Work performed during the tours forms the basis of course assignments.

Travel – Europe at your fingertips
Is it easy to travel from Copenhagen to other spots in Europe?
Copenhagen is an excellent base from which to travel in Europe. Copenhagen airport is the biggest in Scandinavia, with hundreds of daily departures, and trains, buses and ferries will take you to many European destinations. Prices vary, but great deals are available to anyone with a little flexibility.
DIS Forum, the web-based communication system for DIS Students, Faculty and Staff, hosts a travel portal for our students in Copenhagen. It has a multitude of information about destinations, flights and cheap travel in Europe. Not only that, but it's a great way to find other DIS students interested in traveling to places you want to go to.
Is there enough time to travel?
Yes! The two program tours take place during the first half of the semester. In the second half there is a two-week travel break, in which you can travel on your own, or join DIS for optional study tours and/or adventure trips, or both. It is up to you to decide. The weekend tours and day trips are independent of the travel break.
You can also travel on weekends, but please be aware that the program is academically rigorous and you should plan to spend some of your weekends working in the DIS library or at home to complete your written assignments. Attendance at all classes, academic study tours and field studies is mandatory.
