Danish University Courses DIS Courses at Danish Universities
The majority of courses offered by DIS are taught in-house by our own faculty. However, a select number of courses available to DIS students are taught in English for international and Danish students at various universities and institutions in Copenhagen.
For a student, taking a course offered at one of the Danish universities in Copenhagen is a great opportunity to be part of student life at a premier university, meet Danish and international students, and have a real Danish learning experience.
Often these courses will differ from the regular DIS courses on several counts, so students and their home faculty should be aware of some of these differences:
- The class takes place at the respective university, most of which are located outside the city center of Copenhagen, meaning that students will have to use more time to go there, compared to a DIS class.
- Readings are often not discussed in class but are important for the overall understanding of the topic. Danish students are self-educators and feel that they are the ones responsible for their own learning, achievement, and grades.
- 100% of the total grade will be based on a single final paper or an oral exam for the course.
With this said, please realize that the courses we offer in cooperation with the universities are of high academic quality. They are taught by engaging professors who are excited about having American students enrolled in their class. US students should just expect a different teaching style than they are used to at their home university and be ready to ask questions if they do not fully understand what is expected of them.
