US Faculty Development Opportunities
Visiting Faculty at DIS
DIS is able to provide several faculty development opportunities for our US colleagues. Working together also benefits our own faculty, who enjoy international collaboration and ongoing development of their own.
US faculty from DIS Partner Institutions are invited to apply to teach a upper division 3-credit course for a semester, year (e.g., during a sabbatical) or summer session at DIS in Copenhagen.
Application Form for visiting faculty.
Course Proposals
The proposed course should complement the existing DIS curriculum and be adapted to take advantage of local/regional resources. Faculty should submit proposals at least one year in advance and earlier if possible for consideration/review by the “Lærernes Forretningsudvalg” (Faculty Executive Committee). Potential faculty should visit DIS to meet the appropriate staff and faculty so proper arrangements can be made for teaching and living in Copenhagen.

- Proposed Course Description & Syllabi Draft including course prerequisites, what majors would be interested in the course & key readings

- Your learning philosophy and methods
- Two professional references (Preferably a departmental reference and education abroad administrator if possible)
Remuneration and Benefits
- Compensation of the same amount paid to a Danish faculty for teaching a 3-credit course and associated course activities. (This amount will be transferred to you at the start of the semester).

- DIS will provide stipend to provide support for housing costs.
- DIS will provide professional & social opportunities to interact/exchange ideas with Danish faculty and staff during the semester.
