Emily Wild picks up her award from DIS Associate Director, Malene Torp

December 22, 2009

At the end of each semester DIS gives out the Award of Academic Excellence to the student who has distinguished themselves through their outstanding academic performance, diligence and commitment during their time in Copenhagen.

The Award of Academic Excellence for the Fall semester 2009 went to Emily Elisabeth Wild, a sophomore at Wake Forest University, majoring in Biology and Art History. At DIS, Emily impressed as a student in the Medical Practice & Policy Program, taking courses in Human Health & Disease, Biology of Marine Mammals, Danish Language & Culture, European Art, Ancient Art and Archeology and Classical & Renaissance Rome.

This semester the competition was fierce, with the DIS faculty and professors impressed with so many from a very engaged and committed group, but Emily was the stand-out candidate.

At the Concluding Ceremony, Emily was thanked for her intellectual leadership, and her contribution to maintaining a challenging learning environment – and, of course, for keeping the DIS faculty on their toes!

The DIS Associate Director, Malene Torp, presented the award to Emily in the form of an official award document and prize money of $500.
