Studenterhuset, the Student House of the University of Copenhagen, is a centrally located and well-known building at Købmagergade 52 next to the Round Tower, and is the lively home of many different student groups, events and activities throughout the year.

During the daytime, it offers students a place to relax, study, meet, socialize, and drink coffee or beer. At night, Studenterhuset becomes a space for live musical performance, dancing, and parties.

The Studenterhuset has invited DIS students, in groups of at least two members, to enter an ideas competition for the new courtyard. The courtyard will be an outdoor lounge space in warm weather, with a DJ booth and the possibility of live performances, as well as a bar serving beer from GourmetBryggeriet.

During the winter, the courtyard will be used as a smoking terrace. The design should incorporate flexibility and support the comfort and enjoyment of up to 150 guests in all weathers with the following elements: canopies, heat lamps, ashtrays, and seating for 30-50 people.

The facade of the Studenterhuset is historically listed, therefore it cannot be altered, but the facade of the adjacent building is at the designers’ discretion. Every design must include a clear egress path - a 1.6 m-wide zone free of all obstructions - in case of emergency (the egress path does not need to be straight).

For full requirements and additional details, contact the AD Department at DIS.
