DIS Students Involved in CPH:DOX Film
Three DIS architecture students had their names beamed onto the silver screen at the CPH:DOX film festival this week.

Remy Kass, Sean Mcfeely and Anabelle Rigg helped create miniature sets for the 28-minute short, Bedtime Stories from the Axis of Evil, during their time as DIS architecture students in Copenhagen earlier this year.
The film focuses on parents relaying bedtime stories to their children in the so-called 'Axis of Evil' countries, namely Iran, Iraq and North Korea. The miniature sets of Baghdad, Teheran and Pyongyang, built by the DIS students, set the scene for several sequences throughout the movie, providing a smooth transition of location. The sets are even described as “small architectural masterpieces” in the official description of the movie.
The film itself focuses on the differing allegorical and oral renditions of morality across the 'Axis of Evil' countries, as the children listen to tales of good and evil from their own local story-telling traditions. The private settings, innocence of the characters and close personal relationship between the parents and children, as these culturally-nuanced tales are told, create a subtle but stark counterpoint to the crude and generalized labeling of these nations as an 'Axis of Evil' by the U.S. and its allies.
