Late Summer
| 6 credits
| Study Tour:
Students are introduced to the 3 most commonly used techniques in the textile industry at the moment; direct printing, transfer printing and digital printing. Training students in design and printing of repeat pattern in maximum 3 colors, presented with 4-5 other color ways in sample size. Direct printing and overprint with fiber reactive dyes and burn-out can be used. During the course students will go on site visits to designers, producers and projects in the Danish context. These trips highlight the communication process that insures product quality in an outsourced design process. Students will create a portfolio with selected samples and experiments created in the workshop. The portfolio must include samples of different print techniques, repeat patterns, sketches, and examples of the use of textiles in connection with architecture.
Please Note: The syllabus is accurate in terms of course content and objectives, however the daily schedule is not up to date as it is from the previous summer. Please do not make any travel plans or other arrangements around it.

Enrollment is limited due to restricted workshop space.
Students should bring examples of their work in a portfolio to be submitted to their studio instructors at the beginning of summer session. This will allow the professors to become acquainted with the design skills of each student. The portfolio should contain:

- Approximately 3 pages of project illustrations from one or several projects done in studio (or independently if relevant), accompanied by a short description.
The portfolio must be submitted as a digital PDF or hard copy. The pages should be formatted to A4 size (210mmx297mm) or US-Letter size (8.5"x11").
