Summer Immersion Program

Want to have fun Danish-style while studying abroad? Want to meet the locals and perhaps make friends? Want to immerse yourself? If so, keep on reading….

What is Cultural Immersion?

At DIS immersion is not defined as just ‘being surrounded’ by the host culture. Instead DIS has a much more holistic approach to the term. Immersion is a long process that starts before you leave your home country and continues after your return. The main target of immersion is an exchange of values that leads to a sense of intercultural understanding. The DIS summer study abroad programs are short but that doesn’t make it impossible to get immersed.

Danish Visiting Family

The Visiting Family Program gives you the opportunity to experience Danish family traditions and values. Grab the opportunity to gain a first-hand look at everyday family life in Denmark. You will spend a day or an evening with a Danish family, and if you both have time for it, you might share even more experiences together.

You can sign up for the Visiting Family Program as a part of the DIS online registration process after acceptance into the program. Please note that the number of spots is limited and that it is first come first serve. If we are unable to place you with a family, you will of course be placed on a waiting list.

Join a gym

Over the summer you have the chance of joining a gym in Copenhagen. E-mail Housing here for more information.

More about Copenhagen

Apart from DIS Cultural Immersion options, Denmark offers a plethora of activities and events for students during the summer months. Read more about living in style in Copenhagen in our Student Life section, with study abroad blogs and student stories and much more.

I learned more about the world, my major, and myself than I could have ever anticipated. DIS gave me the resources and opportunities for a hands-on life experience that has more value than can be measured.
