Summer Study Tours: A Unique Feature

During summer study abroad in Session 2 or Architecture & Design, DIS operates study tours integrated into all courses – something that is unique among study abroad programs. The study tour allows you to approach your area of study in a practical and applied way, and to combine classroom theory with real-life experience. The study tour also affords the opportunity for you to explore Europe in a significant manner and to visit people and sites you would never otherwise have access to. See a detailed list of Summer Study Tours.

The study tours in Session 2 are to exciting destinations, including London, Berlin, Amsterdam and Poland.

Thestudy tours for the seven-week Architecture & Design programs visit Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, depending on the course.

Course-Integrated Study Tours

Study tours at DIS are an important fully integrated component of the academic program and are faculty-led. This way, you get the chance to enhance your studies through a hands-on dimension, as well as gaining an extra chance to visit new places in Europe. Combining academic and cultural exploration with new experiences, socializing, and fun, program study tours are a key study abroad element at DIS.

On Study Tours, you will visit course-related destinations such as (depending on the course) renowned art collections, European institutions, architecture and design projects, university hospitals, multinational businesses, schools and kindergartens, NGOs, media centers, and much more. Plus you will meet important leaders in your area of study. Work performed during the tours forms the basis of course assignments.

A great highlight was the opportunity to travel to so many different cities in Europe. It has really broadened my world view and will be an experience I will never forget.
