Research Opportunities

If you are interested in doing research in Denmark/Europe as part of a project or thesis from your home university, you may enroll in the ‘Research Project’ course. Please see the full course list. By taking this course, you will be able to carry out a piece of individualized research under the guidance of a local advisor. The project must be prepared beforehand at your home university, so that you are ready to maximize your use of the local environment once you arrive in Copenhagen. Talk to your faculty advisor at home about integrating research at DIS in your Honors Project or Senior Thesis. Read more on Student Research.

Foreign Languages

For an additional fee of $500, students who have started a foreign language at their home institution and are required to continue studying that language while abroad may be able to do so at DIS, provided the level of language is a documented requirement of the student’s declared major or minor. One foreign language class per semester (other than Danish) is permitted. Please contact the DIS North American Office for more details on 800 247-3477, non-US: (612) 627-0140, or click here to send an email.

Performing Arts: Music

If you are studying music at your university and want to continue your studies while in Copenhagen, DIS can arrange instruction for credit in your subject through a joint collaboration with the Royal Danish Academy of Music (www.dkdm.dk). The academy offers both individual and group instruction.

Students interested in studying music while in Copenhagen are asked to contact an advisor at the DIS North American Office early to coordinate the audition process, as required by the Academy.
