Transatlantic Flights

Ticket prices from the USA to Denmark vary based on time of year (as you would imagine, it’s generally cheaper to fly to Europe in January than in August), departure city, airline, and booking agent.  While DIS does not arrange student transportation to Denmark, please follow these suggestions:

1) Check three types of resources before booking:

• Student travel agencies offer discounted rates – check STA, Student Universe, or similar agencies.
• Internet search engines provide a quick and easy method for comparing airline prices, flight plans and times. Take a look at www.travelocity.com, www.expedia.com, www.orbitz.com, or www.kayak.com, just to mention a few.
• Booking directly with an airline, either online or over the phone, can sometimes end up being the best option in the end – and if plans change, you don’t have to go through a third party to make changes to your itinerary.

2) Book a round-trip ticket

• Denmark requires that all non-EU citizens entering the country have a valid passport (valid for three months beyond the end of your stay), a Danish residence permit if you’re staying longer than three months (so this applies to semester students, but not summer students), and a return ticket to verify that you do intend to leave and are not attempting to immigrate to Denmark.

3) Submit your confirmed flight information to DIS via online registration

• Students arriving between 7:30am and 2:00pm on your official arrival day will be greeted by DIS staff at Copenhagen airport. In order to prepare for your transportation from the airport, we need to know when you’re getting in!
