Study Abroad Scholarships DIS Scholarship Information

Study Abroad Scholarships

Four types of study abroad scholarships are offered by DIS:

Please see the study abroad scholarship application form which has full instructions. We recommend asking your study abroad advisor about additional financial aid opportunities.

Study Abroad Scholarship – Diversity Abroad

Diversity Abroad offers twenty $1,000 study abroad scholarships each year to non-traditional study abroad students. Scholarships are only available for students studying on programs offered by a Diversity Abroad member organization (including DIS). Economically disadvantaged students, African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic/Latino and Native American students are strongly encouraged to apply, as well as first-from-family college students.

Home Financial Aid

For assistance with transferring your financial aid package, consult your Study Abroad Advisor or Financial Aid Officer on campus. They may also be able to assist you in exploring potential sources of additional financial aid or loans. There are more possibilities than you may think!

U.S. Government Scholarship

Under a new program, American students who receive federal financial aid can get assistance for study abroad. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships will provide scholarships up to $5,000 per year to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. This program is offered through the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and is administered by the Institute of International Education. Applications are available at www.iie.org/gilman.
