Child Diversity & Development Practicum
Fall & Spring
| 3 credits
| Core course
Majors:
Child Development,
Education,
and
Minority Studies
This is a companion course to the seminar courses Children in a Multicultural Context and Children with Special Needs. You will be placed in a Danish vuggestue (ages 0-2), børnehave (preschool, 2-6 years old) or after-school program (6-12) one day a week for a total of 45-55 hours, to observe and interact with the children under the guidance of a supervising pedagogue.
The important element of practicum is that it is an opportunity for students to implement theory with practice in an experiential learning environment. Students will have the unique chance to work with children in a Danish educational and child development setting where they can interact, observe and reflect over different educational and pedagogical theories.
Should you have more questions about the types of institutions at which you could work, please read through our Practicum Possibilities information.
Also, browse through our "Frequently Asked Practicum Questions" to better understand the experience.
