This course provides students with broad-ranging knowledge of Danish politics and society, exploring contemporary issues of the welfare state, immigration, and EU cooperation. Focus on Danish political parties, NATO, and international relations vis-à-vis Danish values and national identity.
Field Studies
- Danish Institute for Human Rights
- First, you will travel to The Danish Institute for Human Rights and learn about the controversial refugee policy that the Danes have toward outsiders.
- Copenhagen Police Department
- Then, you go to the Copenhagen Police Department, where you will get a tour of the exquisite police department building and learn about the peaceful tactics that the Danes use to subdue their riots.
- Folketinget
- Lastly, you take a trip to the Folketinget – The Danish Parliament – where you will meet with a Parliament member and take a guided tour.
