Majors: History and International Relations

This course aims at providing a basic understanding of the specific processes which have shaped contemporary Europe over the last century, focusing on the interplay of political, economic, social, and ideological developments. Key issues include the social and political consequences of industrialization and nationalism, especially with regard to Germany. The course is highly recommended for a background in current European affairs.

Everything has a greater meaning when you have been able to visit the places you are studying and discussing in class. The Europeans have a unique view of their own history that, while not clashing completely with American views, does help to give students a much wider range of knowledge.
