Gender Perspectives on Human Rights

Fall & Spring | 3 credits | Elective | Study Tour: A four-day Amsterdam
Majors: Gender Studies, Legal Studies, and Political Science

The course will examine the human rights framework through a gendered lens. Students will learn how current human rights practices fail to account for the ways in which human rights abuses target women directly.  Creating a women’s human rights framework will equip women with a way to define, analyze, and articulate their experiences of violence and marginality and allow them to develop an array of visions and strategies for change.

Optional Study Tour:

Students have the option to participate on the study tour, Amsterdam: Perspectives on Prostitution and Human Trafficking. The study tour is not required and comes at an additional cost. If you are interested, please sign up through student online registration. Spots are limited and filled on a first come basis.
