Medical Exploration of HIV/AIDS

The course aims at providing students with an evidence-based broad knowledge of most aspects of the HIV pandemic with a strong focus on the clinical effects of the disease. The general topics include historical, biological, socioeconomical and political areas. Furthermore, students will obtain a more profound knowledge regarding local and global factors relevant to the continued spread of HIV, the obstacles to the prevention of HIV and to the complications relating to HIV treatment.
Prerequisites
At least one year of biology and one year of chemistry at the university level.
Field Studies
- Positivgruppen
- Visit an association for gay and bisexual for HIV-positive men and their significant others.
- Copenhagen HIV Programme (CHIP)
- Visit the separate research unit at the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Copenhagen.
