Kierkegaard Honors Level Seminar

Majors: Philosophy and Religious Studies

This seminar course consists of a lecture series by distinguished scholars from the Søren Kierkegaard Research Centre at the University of Copenhagen, as well as round table discussions among students from DIS and the University of Copenhagen – Kierkegaard’s alma mater. Each lecture covers an important aspect of Kierkegaard’s work. At the end of the course, students will be able to distinguish and discuss various interpretations of Kierkegaard’s philosophy.

This is a University of Copenhagen course taught by rotating scholars from the Kierkegaard Center.

Prerequisites

Co-requisite
At least one of the following DIS courses: Kierkegaard’s Authorship; The Making of the Modern Self; or Religion in Crisis.

The Søren Kierkegaard Research Center

This honors course is offered in cooperation with the Søren Kierkegaard Research Center, located in the heart of Copenhagen, and it takes full advantage of the team of researchers, translators, and philosophers who work there.The course is taught by researchers who are in residency at the Center, either temporarily while they write a scholarly book on Kierkegaard's work, or permenantly as staff, regularly publishing articles and translations. Students also have access to the Center's large Kierkegaard library with unique articles, translations, and rare books.
