This course examines biomedicine, drug discovery and development, and biotechnological tools while exploring the opportunities and challenges biotechnology has for medicine: personalized medicine, immune response reactions, stem cells, etc. It further compares and juxtaposes the Danish and European pharmaceutical and biotech research community through case studies.
Prerequisites
At least one year of biology and one year of chemistry at the university level.
Field Studies
- Pharmaceutical and biotech companies
- Visit pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the 'Medicon Valley' region. Past companies have included Santaris Pharma, Leo Pharma, and Novo Nordisk.
