Students enrolling in this course will have the unique opportunity to take classes at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. The Royal Danish Academy of Music is the oldest music academy in Denmark and offers a broad musical and stylistic repertoire, ranging from period music to classical-romantic, as well as more recent and contemporary music. Read the Royal Danish Academy of Music's e-brochure.
This 6-credit music performance course offers participation in an instrumental ensemble at the Royal Danish Academy of Music as well as individual training in principal instrument or voice in the student’s primary area of study. The Academy ensembles, through regular practice and rehearsal, prepare for performance both locally and regionally in concert and workshop settings. All students participate on an ongoing basis in different related activities such as orchestral playing, concerts, musical drama, ensemble singing and master classes, depending on the student’s area of study.
The Royal Academy of Music sets a high standard in music performance; students applying must submit a solo performance recording on DVD together with a repertoire list to DIS for the Academy application committee. Once accepted, a personal course schedule will be worked out in coordination with DIS to fit the student’s other electives at DIS.
Application deadline
All material (DVD and list of repertoire) is to be submitted no later than 1 April (fall semester) or 1 October (spring semester) in order the Academy application committee to review the material.
This is a Royal Danish Academy of Music course open to DIS students. Please ensure you read the full details on taking external courses through DIS.
Prerequisites
Music majors or students of music with significant formal training only. Acceptance by the Academy required through advance submission of a solo performance recording on DVD. A repertoire list of works may also be included.
