Religion in Crisis: 18th Century European Thought

This course is a study of the challenges to religious thinking in the 18th century. Through texts from authors like Leibniz, Voltaire, Rousseau, Lessing, Jacobi, Hume, Fichte and Kant, we will explore questions such as the problem of evil, religious freedom, the divine nature of Christ, the Revelation, and the religious grounding of ethics.
