The visual journal is a process-driven and theoretical praxis and tool that constitutes both the cumulative record of each student’s endeavors and the site for drawing inquiries, for this course as well as for studio and study tours. The focus is foremost on understanding (as a dialogic, practical, and ‘situated’ activity) via different techniques and media. Students study the observation and communication of the diverse conditions and possibilities of the physical environments and objects that surround us and in which we participate.
