Description
Milan is at the forefront of the emerging niche of cross-cultural positive psychology. On this tour, students will explore the links between policy and practice, and how to promote positive mental health from a cross-cultural perspective. Visits give students a forum to discuss and debate cultural differences within ‘best practice’, and each of the destinations encourages students to explore the historical, economic, and social backgrounds of positive psychology.
Students will observe and discuss public policies, community practices, and individual efforts through their academic study. They will have the opportunity to meet with the president of the European Association of Positive Psychology and the International Association of Positive Psychology. Additional visits with Italian researchers and practitioners will also present cutting edge cultural research about positive psychology and its applications in a global context.
The sizzling, charming city of Milan is filled with historical sites, famous Italian art, sophisticated cafes, and a bustling student culture. The tour will allow students to dig deeper into the culture of the city by attending performances, visiting museum exhibitions, and tasting local wine.
Tours integrate theories presented in classroom learning together with practicum observations, field studies, and the tour visits to set the stage for an extended study of positive psychology practices from many different cultural perspectives.
