Objectives

  • Explore how clinical psychology is approached from a Danish perspective
  • Analyze how components of clinical psychology can be applied in practice through various settings
  • Reflect on the questions raised during experiences on the tour, and how they are related to your understanding of clinical psychology in a European context

Previous Activities Have Included

  • Visit to mental health facilities on the island of Bornholm - discussion of challenges for professionals in an 'isolated' community
  • Meet with practitioners in psychological practice to investigate the application of clinical theory
  • Discussion with members of the Bornholm community regarding the most pressing mental health issues they experience

Description

This study tour provides you with the opportunity to explore the field of clinical psychology and various practices in Denmark.  Academic visits on tour could include meeting with educational and psychological consultants, visiting healthcare institutions, as well as gaining insight into professional practices in Danish municipalities.  Students will examine the Nordic interpretation of clinical practice and public policies.

In addition to the academic activities on study tour, the study tour program is supplemented with cultural visits to relevant and exciting sites and events to help engage students to the fullest extent.  They help to give students a more well-rounded understanding of the communities in which they are studying.  In the past, cultural visits have included touring castles, museum visits, and experiencing traditional Danish food at a local Kro.
